Working through first few imports:

1) a trivial error - I use the Euro symbol (€) in account names - this displays as ? within a lozenge

2) When I import a few accounts which contain transfer transactions say, from account A (which is the one I am importing) to account B, then account A is created as I have asked and Account B is created automatically as it is referenced in the second side of the transfer. This, of course, gives rise to odd balances in the secondary accounts created - this is to be expected as these accounts will contain only the transfer transactions. When I import such a secondary, say account B, the transfer transaction is added a second time. So far I have done this only with a relatively new account which has featured only in one transfer and which has a static balance. Consequently the balance has doubled. I wish!

3) During my playing around I have sometimes exited without saving. I have, on three occasions eight or nine, been given an error

Cleary, as I am not saving anything this doesn't really matter, but it is disconcerting. I have tried deliberately to reproduce the error but I haven't isolated the exact sequence. It seems to happen only after I have recreated the situation in 2 above.

Hi. Thanks for the report.

1) I'll take a look at this - it might be the font I'm using doesn't support that character, or it may be the character MS Money uses is different.

2) When importing into an existing account, the transactions should auto-reconcile if they match on both name, amount and date. Are there any differences in your data? You can of course, go in and manually reconcile these and the transactions will merge, but I'm puzzled why that wouldn't have happened automatically if using the same data source. I've just tested here, and mine are reconciling correctly.

3) Can you click on the down arrow and send me the stack trace error please. This should help me see where the error is occurring.

Thanks for the stack trace. The error is occurring in one of the third party libraries I'm using. It's a bit of a puzzle. Are you running on a Citrix or virtual environment at all? I've raised a ticket with them, so will see what they come back with.

I have also figured out the Euro symbol issue, so this will be fixed in the next update.

Thanks for the update. I am running a straight, up-to-date, Windows 11 system - I can't think of anything unusual or non-standard.

For the Euro symbol - I changed my account names to use EUR instead of the symbol. I can't understand why I had used the ISO code for one currency and a symbol for the other. Good to have the tiny error fixed to avoid any future oddities.

Thanks for this. The provider has come back, asking me for a repro case which is frustrating as I'm not sure we'll get that. Is there a particular scenario where you can reproduce the error, or does it appear randomly? Also, looking at your screenshot, it seems you have your font scaling set quite high. Is this 200%?

The easy bit is the font scaling - yes, it is 200%. I've never really got the hang of setting up multiple screens - I find settings which work and don't touch them again. With my tiny tablet (Surface Go 3) and big external monitor, I need this to be able to see anything with my old eyes. I work this way as I have big monitors in both my homes (Carlisle and Normandy) and carry the tablet between the two.

I spent a couple of hours trying to recreate the error. It happened randomly - about one third of the time. Always I had imported some data - three or four accounts and then exited without saving. Each time I started with a new file - I never saved anything at any point. I am reasonably sure that each time it failed with that message I had created the condition where a false balance had been generated any duplicated transactions had not been detected - but some times it closed normally under the same conditions. Up to that point I had imported always via a file dialog - never drag and drop. As I mentioned before, using drag and drop made some of the reconciliation failures go away - but not all of them.

Today I have imported all of my accounts - I am astonished to find that I have 70 in all, although I use only 11 at the moment. With personal accounts, three small business in two currencies, and power of attorney for my mother, I just gathered accounts. Also with my chasing the tiny interest margins available in different banks I did move accounts rather a lot. I say this leading up to asking perhaps for a little help. I have more than 50 accounts which have duplicate transactions which have not been matched automatically. Some of these have hundreds of duplicates. I have found that for each account I can sort the transactions by status, select one by one those transaction listed as automatically created, and click on match. This clears the problem - but I will have hours and hours of work Especially as the sort sequence changes after each match and I need to select status again. Any thoughts? So far I have not been able to detect any reason why some auto matching works and some does not.

I should say that, despite the difficulties which I have created, I like what you are doing and am very hopeful for it. I will post a couple of minor suggestions that have occurred to me so far.
