New Release - v1.13.0.0

Post by Campbell »

I have just uploaded a new release, v1.13.0.0. This is a major release, which adds undo and redo for almost everything you change, a new exporter for QIF and OFX files, and a list of improvements to importing, especially for files that hold several accounts. The full change list is:

Undo/Redo
Maxim Money now supports full Undo/Redo, using a new Undo and Redo button at the top-left corner of the application:

You can also use the keyboard Ctrl + Z to undo, and Ctrl + Y (or Ctrl + Shift + Z) to redo. If you are typing in a field, these keys undo your typing instead. If you hover over either button, you can see exactly what it will undo or redo.

What you can undo
  • Adding, editing, deleting and matching transactions, including splits and transfers
  • Changes to accounts, categories, payees and payee aliases
  • Scheduled transactions
  • Reports, charts and their folders
  • Currencies, institutions and holidays
  • Anything that changes a lot at once, such as an import or a bulk update, counts as a single step, so one undo takes it all back.

Change History panel
As an extension to the Undo/Redo feature, you can also view the history of the changes you have made. There is a new icon in the bottom-right corner:

Clicking this brings up the history viewer, like so:

This shows you everything you have modified this session, newest first, with the time of each action. Expand an action to see each individual change it made, field by field. From here you can:

Undo to here: undo an action and everything after it.
Redo to here: redo everything up to and including an action.
Undo or redo a single change on its own. This is applied as a new action, so you can undo it in turn.

Undone actions are shown greyed out until you redo them, or until a new change replaces them.

The history keeps your last 1,000 actions while a file is open. It isn't saved with the file, and so resets when you open a file or import a Microsoft Money file, since those replace your data.

Export
You can now export data from Maxim Money.

Choose File › Export… to output your transactions to a file that other personal finance programs can import. To export specific accounts, right-click them in the Accounts list and choose Export Account: the export opens with those accounts already chosen.

The export window has two tabs:

Configure: choose the format, where to save the file, and the format's options. Both QIF and OFX formats are supported.
Filter: choose which transactions to export. Everything is included unless you change it. You can filter by account, date range, payee, category and more, or use an advanced filter.

Your choices are remembered for next time, including the format, its options and the folder you saved to.

Import Improvements
Having an exporter greatly improves the ability to test the importer, so it now has the following improvements:
  • Progress bar
  • Cancel to interrupt
  • OFX now supports multiple accounts and investment portfolios
  • Improved account linking on transfers
  • Check numbers and references imported from OFX
  • Improved performance processing OFX
  • QIF now supports Stock Splits
Minor Enhancements
  • Transfers between currencies imported on both sides can now be matched up correctly and FX rate recorded
  • Historical FX rates used to improve matching between accounts
  • Charts list now has folder structure, matching the Reports format
  • Default charts now appear in new projects, and can be reset to default
  • Account selection on import can now display all accounts, rather than just the type the import file specifies
  • Download button enabled if pending Open Banking downloads available after bank consent terminated
  • Excluded phantom transactions in MNY import
  • Search Payee menu now broken down into smaller sub-menus, and built on demand, improving performance
  • Scheduled Group transactions can now be created and modified directly
  • Reference field added to reports
  • Reference count added to Payees list (select Columns), allowing simple sorting and deletion of unused payees
  • Added check to prevent accidental change of service account on bank sync
Bug Fixes
  • Fixed issue with OFX import posted PM
  • Fixed issue with & symbol in OFX payee names
  • Dividends and investment cash appearing in both bank and investment account no longer imported twice
  • Payees with same name as accounts remain a payee in QIF import
  • Fixed issue with Opening Balance not always being first transaction in account
  • Fixed issue with certain panels not theming correctly
  • Open Banking refresh errors now just log rather than pop-up to screen
  • Adding a category now inserts in correct place in categories tree
  • Account charts no longer appear in charts list
  • Fixed issue where Opening Balance wasn't taking effect
  • Fixed issue where Advanced Filters were showing numbers instead of values
  • Linked transactions no longer deleted before confirmation of initial side deletion (resolves some integrity issues)
  • Changing transaction to transfer ensures receiving date not before sending date
  • Changing amount in transfer form between same currency accounts now updates other side correctly
  • Rearranging multi-band grid columns now keeps child bands in sync
  • Adding new Transfer transaction activates form correctly
  • Changing category no longer clears custom memos
  • Default Account Holder now sorted in Settings > Misc.
  • Fixed Object Reference error in dropdown
