Classifications

Post by ggilder »

As well as categories Money aslo has two self defined Classifications. Not sure other people use them but i find them useful as an additional line of codeing for example classification of holidays you could have France 2025, USA 2025 and use the same categories.

I plan to support these when I implement Tags. Initially I was going to do what everyone else does for Tags, but I'd like to make them a bit more powerful than that, which is why I have delayed them. I'm hoping to start on these fairly soon.

I do not know how it will work with tags.
For me I have always worked with Microsoft Money and was able to keep the program by cloning my old pc to my new one.
I enter all my transactions manually and am not yet convinced to use More Money for my regular accounts because of the category system.

This is the screen for entering a transaction. There are categories and subcategories (Income and expense are not mentioned)
The number of categories is very limited. At the end of the year this gives me a very small list with income and expences:

When entering a transaction for a payee the last used category is automatically opened. This can be changed - or if payee is new - you only have to search a small amount of categories.
First image shows how you open the subcategories (here also the last used is first proposed but can be changed easily because the list is small).
Until now I found entering my daily expenses much more difficult in Maxim Money
