Transaction matching (in my case when importing data from a OFX file) works some, but not all, of the time.
It would be really helpful if it was possible to highlight two transaction lines and select to manually match them. I'd guess that this will need a dialog to select which of the various fields should be retained for the matched transaction if they differ (e.g. a direct debit which varies depending on the number of a given day in a month).
Apologies in advance if this should already be there and I've just failed to figure out how to make it work!

Re: Manual transaction matching
This should already work. If you have the two lines selected, right-click and select Match Transactions. This option does depend on the statuses of the transactions though - for example, if both transactions are Reconciled, the option will be greyed out.
The values used for the merged transaction will depend on the status of the transactions. If, for example, you have a scheduled transaction and an imported transaction, the date is assumed to be correct on the imported one, whereas the category would be taken from the scheduled transaction. I've found this to be pretty accurate, but if anything doesn't merge as you would expect, then let me know.

Re: Manual transaction matching
That's how I assumed it worked but the "Match Transactions" option always appears to be greyed out in the context menu regardless of the status of the two transactions. Either that or my old age and encroaching senility have got the better of me! I'll give it another try next time I import some transaction data.

Re: Manual transaction matching
The rule as it stands, is any transaction won't allow a match against a transaction of the same status, unless they are Auto Created. So if they are both Manual, or both Imported for example, you wouldn't be able to match.
If you have two transactions you want to match, but you don't have the option to do so, you could try changing the status of one, using the right-click menu > Set Status.
And also, let me know if you think this rule should be adjusted.
