I haven't yet added filtering to the transaction registers, but it is on my to-do list.
Out of interest, what's the main reason you do this - is it for performance, or to make it easier to find recent transactions, or for some other reason?

Thanks. I'm just trying to work out what would be the most useful way of doing this.
I could obviously add a very similar dropdown to MS Money. Or I could add fully flexible filters to allow you to filter in any way you like. I'm tempted by the latter, but not sure if this makes it more complicated than it needs to be.
