Let me start by saying that I think you did a splendid job on this program.
I have started downloading the portefolio from Microsoft Money and all the connected accounts have also downloaded.
There are a few transactions that were missing but it is not difficult to correct that.
I have tried some 3 alternatives and was never able to transfer anything from Microsoft Money.
I have to say, I'm torn about this, as to whether it should work like this, or if it should always default to the current date.
I understand that you would have doubts if you enter your transactions every day. I usually do it every 2 weeks and it saves a lot of changes on the dates.
In Portfolios, you would have the portfolio summary selected rather than the portfolio transactions, and so it doesn't really have a date to default to other than the current date
I work like this: I open the bankaccount with my investments and I open the Portefolio.
This is much better than in Microsoft Money where you have to switch between portefolio's and accounts.
I have dividends and other transactions to book (transactions that are not present in portefolio like lending fee)
For a dividend I go to Portefolio - click dividend - change the date - enter the total sum of dividend. Because in Belgium we have different taxes on dividends I cannot enter the dividend itself. I then go to the connected bank account. Here the transaction I just entered is not shown. I have to scroll down to it.I then enter the dividend and the taxes in the bank transaction.
So
do you mean that when you enter a new portfolio transaction, you would like both the portfolio holding account and the linked cash account to automatically scroll to the newly added transactions if you have either of those accounts open?
- yes
I I then return to the portefolio and click on dividend again the actual date is shown - so yes I would prefer to keep the latest entered date.
