I stumbled upon Maxim Money because Microsoft Money could not be installed on a new PC anymore.
Meanwhile I can still use it on my old laptop and am using Maxim Money for my investment accounts and for a few small accounts with little activity.
I am entering my daily expenses manually. I am not very interested in downloading them automatically as long as entering them manually is still giving me problems.

My main problem is that I am never sure of where I am when booking.
With Microsoft Money you enter a transaction - push enter and the transaction is entered. You see it on the last line and you have an empty transaction detail screen.
I wonder if others have issues with this.
I have several times altered a transaction that I had entered.

An issue I also have:
The small account I am entering now is one where the incomes and payments of a small apartment block we have are entered.
Almost all transactions are scheduled.
The tenants pay their rent most of the time not on the exact day (1st of the month). Sometimes a few days earlier, sometimes later.
Every time I am asked about changing the date.
And the question is asked after I entered a transaction so I do not know for sure about which transaction this question is.
I find this irritating and useless.
If I want to change a transaction date I can do that by going on the scheduled transaction and changing the date.

I plan to add an option so that any amendments to transactions need to be confirmed. I'm not sure if it will be in the next release or not, but I know this is important to you so I'll try to get it done soon.

Ok, thanks, that's good feedback. I think the best solution here would be to have an additional option on the scheduled dates, for the date to be approximate. If that is set, it will schedule it as normal, but never prompt when the date is modified away from the schedule.

I somehow forgot to add this to the release notes (I have done so now), but this was added in v1.9.0.0.

I'm trying to understand exactly what the problem is here. To enter a new transaction in Maxim Money you need to explicitly click on the Add Deposit/Payment button, or right-click > Add Transaction. Those are very deliberate actions you need to take. So I'm guessing the issue is around the way Microsoft Money works, where it allows you to select a blank line in the transaction register and you can just start editing that, and so perhaps you are trying to do something similar in Maxim Money out of habit?

Yes you have to click a button to start a transaction. That is not the problem. But once you have entered the transaction and it is entered in the account you should be on that last line. This is not the case in MM.
Another thing that I find difficult and do not see the advantage off:
When I start booking an account I open that account. If it is an investment account I also open the portefolio for the currency I am booking in (have to to book dividends or buys/sales). If I book a dividend I would expect it to be booked in the account I opened. That is not the case. I have the same investments in 2 different banks and MM books it in the bank it assigned the investment to. Even if I sold the investment from that bank.
Yesterday I had an account opened and booked a buy. It did not appear in that account.
It was added to "cash account" that I never use.

What do you mean by this? Once you enter the new transaction, the selected transaction in the register is the one you just added. Isn't that the same as Microsoft Money?

So sorry I am wrong. You already changed that.
I had this issue with the cash account and then remembered this and also mentioned it.

v1.9.1 now has a similar way of updating transactions as Microsoft Money. Please let me know if this makes it any easier.
