Changing icon

I'm thinking of changing the main icon for Maxim Money. Although I have attempted to dynamically change the icon depending on which base currency you have selected, I suspect seeing the application advertised with a £ symbol would be off-putting if this is not your currency. So I'd like to try to create a brand identity that is consistent across different regions. This is what I am planning:

Urgh, think https://mautic.org/ wouldn't be too happy about that...

Hmm, I'm struggling to come up with something better. I might be able to get away with it by changing the colours, as the logo is a little different, and the businesses are different. What are your thoughts on this:

Hi Campbell, yes I thought about this icon but assumed (now wrongly) that the main icon would change depending on selected local currency!

How about new subscribers choosing/selecting their main icon when first regsitering for Maxim Money?

I have no issues seeing the £ icon - it is great for a personal finance package and feel sure that other users would have no issues with the icon being their local currecny symbol!

It will be unique for Maxim Money to be able to select a main icon!

Many icons of other personal software packages are a bit vague and do not convey the "finance" theme!

The main icon does change based on the local currency (for £, $ and € at least), but only when running the application, not the desktop shortcut. I think I could technically do that too, but it's more involved as it would require elevated permissions. I guess I'm more concerned with people's first impressions. I suspect US users may be deterred if they see a £ icon on the website etc.

Yes, I am sure you are right! So your thoughts about a primary Maxim Money icon are going in the right direction.

Good luck!
