I did see the little sync icon at the top of the mobile app, implying it was syncing. But nothing updated on the Desktop. I tried syncing from both the phone and desktop and it didn't work. I just tried again on the desktop, exited the app, and reopened it, and it's still not there.

Should I delete the trans in the app and try again?

Yes, if it's really not working you can just click on the wipe data on this phone button. This will clear all the data on the phone, and you can then do a fresh sync.

I've also put a couple of enhancements into v1.13.0.3, which will hopefully make the sync a little better.

I've tried this with OneDrive and look to have to have it working now. :)

I did have some issues with synchronisation to start with...
  • I could see on my PC that I had 2 directories under "Apps/Maxim Money" in One Drive
  • Using "Wipe Data" on my phone didn't make any difference
  • Tried deleting the directory which came from my phone (I could tell which one it was because all it had in it was sync.json and no snapshot or delta files) via my PC and that also made no difference.
  • Starting over, I deleted both folders via my PC and moved to a different password on my PC before doing "wipe data" again and also clearing the cache plus storage for the app after that - sync'd again after that and it seems to be working ok now with entries turning up on my PC that came from my phone and vice versa
As an aside, thanks you for the amazingly good turnaround times and communication with Maxim Money - having had a career working in IT I can say that this it's the best I've encountered. :)

The desktop can write multiple folders out to the sync drive. So for example, if you load two different data files onto the desktop software, each would write it's own folder to the drive. The phone should then be able to select which data file it looks at. If there's only one folder, it would default to that, but if there are multiple, you would need to select which one. Could this have been what happened?

And thanks for the kind words... :)

I added some transactions via desktop, saved the file, even synced the file via the Sync Now in settings, wiped the data on my phone, resynced my phone, and my phone doesn't have the transactions I added today.

I also noticed I'm still on version 1.12.1.1. I "updated" from the Microsoft store, but I'm still at 1.12.1.1. I'm not sure how to get to 1.13.x, unless it's not released yet? But it seems as if there's some disconnect between MM and Dropbox. I don't know if this is relevant, maybe it's normal, but when I look in Dropbox in my Apps > Maxim Money folder, nothing is there. But clearly the phone app sees something because it's importing *something*. I thought I might try deleting whatever was there so it would just generate something new, but there's nothing to delete. Am I looking in the wrong place? Doing the wrong thing? I also signed out of Dropbox on the desktop and signed back in, repeated these steps with the same result.

BTW this is obviously NOT urgent, so it's totally fine to deal with this next week. I think it's kinda late there at this point anyway.

Thanks for the detailed report, it helps a lot. I think your phone may be following an older sync folder that your computer has stopped using. Could you try this:

On your computer, in Maxim Money's Settings, go to the Mobile Sync tab and note the address shown next to "Signed in as" on the Dropbox tab.
Go to dropbox.com, and check you're signed in with that same address (top right). Then open Apps, then Maxim Money. You should see one or more folders there, each named after a data file.
On your phone, go to Settings, then Connect, then Data file, and open the list. If there's more than one entry, choose the one named after your data file (not "Maxim Money"). Accept the offer to start afresh.
Your transactions from today should then appear. If the list on your phone only shows one entry, or the Dropbox folder really is empty in the right account, please let me know what you see and I'll dig further.

On the version: 1.13 is currently marked as release candidate (beta). It includes several minor sync improvements, but no structural changes. You can change to this track in Settings if you want, but I'll release it soon onto the Stable track. I just wait a little while to make sure I haven't introduced any major bugs.

I think you might be right about the phone following an older sync. Logging in to Dropbox (I only have one account BTW), going to Apps > Maxim Money, I see TWO folders. One is timestamped today, the other is timestamped yesterday. And I think I know what I did. And I'm pretty sure I'm an idiot. (I think I was looking at One Drive instead of Dropbox. Gah!) :D But also, I tried so many things yesterday and I think that interfered and messed everything up. And I *didn't* consider that there could be more than one entry in "Data file" on the phone, mostly because I didn't realize I'd created a second one. But I think I know how that happened. 100% user error.

Gotcha on the version. I thought it might be something like that.

I think I'm good now. Thank you so much for your help! I'll keep playing with the app. Again, really cool that there's an app. :)
