Difference with import from MS Money 2000

Post by Tukkerinspace »

Hi
I am a brand new user, in fact the last one who joined today. I imported my MS Money 2000 file with almost 20.000 entries and noticed that only one bankaccount wasn't presenting the same balance as in the MS Money file. I checked multiple years and some years are similar and others have difference. How do I check and correct this.

There are a few transactions in the MNY file that I haven’t managed to identify as non-real transactions (Microsoft bungs all sorts of different types of transactions together in the main transaction table). Hopefully there shouldn’t be too many. If you are able to identify which ones shouldn’t be there I might be able to add some more rules to the import to exclude them.

Dear Campbell
thank you for your response, I will give it a try but searching by hand through 20.000 is a daunthing job. I tried firts to check year by year and when I find a year with a difference I must check by month etc. I will let you know what comes out of it.

I do have a possible improvement to the import, but I am just waiting for some user feedback before I implement the change.

Dear Campbell
I may have found the differences.
Apparently the import has included transactions with a status not eqaul to 'Reconciled' such as 'Manual' an 'Scheduled'.
It is in those transactions noty equal to Reconciled that I noticed differences.
Hope this helps in your attempts to improve the import

Thanks for searching

Hi Tukkerinspace. Which version are you currently testing? I put the possible improvement into v1.13.0.0. Does it look any better in this version for you?

Ok, thanks. If you change your Settings > Misc > Check for new version on startup to Release Candidate, it will offer 1.13.0.2 the next time you start up. Can you give that a try, and see if the import looks any better?

I have upgraded succesfully to the new version.
Are you asking me to repeat the import into a new file (slightly change the file name)?
