I wonder if I am the only-one here that uses the program to enter transactions manually?
I do and I have one very big problem with Maxim Money which makes I will never use it for my dayly expenses only for my investments.
When I open an account in Microsoft Money I am on the first empty line at the end of an account:
I choose what I want to do (deposit/payment/...) add date and amount.
In Maxim Money when I open an account I am on some line in the account
Today it happened twice that I changed the date on the last line
Also:In Microsoft Money as soon as I enter a payee the category is showing.
Not in Maxim Money.
Category only shows after entering the amount.
I am sure that I will - and maybe already have - forget to enter the category if it is a new expense/income.
As soon as you enter the payee MM must now the category. Why not show it immediately????
I need an account to open on an empty line!

I think this is as much a habit in the way you use the software as anything else. That said, I will see if I can improve this, to add options to change the way this works to give you more control. At the very least I do intend adding an option so any changes to existing transactions need to be confirmed rather than updating automatically.
As for the category, I thought I had changed that already. Can you confirm the version you are using, as you also have an issue with not deleting prices that I thought I had fixed already.

So I don't get this behavour. As soon as I enter a payee in Maxim Money, it should do the following:Also:In Microsoft Money as soon as I enter a payee the category is showing.
Not in Maxim Money.
Category only shows after entering the amount.
I am sure that I will - and maybe already have - forget to enter the category if it is a new expense/income.

- If a default category exists on the payee, it should set that on the transaction
- If a default category does not exist on the payee, it should set the category to the last one used by that payee
Re: I need an account to open on an empty line!
Sorry I did not see this post of yours.
What I mean is that as soon as you enter a payee you should see the category appear where now it only appears when you go to the total.
I would think a payee can only be linked to a category after choosing the category when you first use the payee so I do not understand your second line: If a category was used by a payee previously it could not not exist. If a default category exists on the payee, it should set that on the transaction
If a default category does not exist on the payee, it should set the category to the last one used by that payee
What I mean is that as soon as you enter a payee you should see the category appear where now it only appears when you go to the total.

I have noticed this too. Bizarre! What I mean is that as soon as you enter a payee you should see the category appear where now it only appears when you go to the total.
