I have an investment that I bought at high price. Later I bought twice at lower price.
In total I paid 27.548,79€.
I sold all at 27533,14€.
Over the years I received a total of 7650,85€ dividends.
I made a profit of 7650,85€.
Below is what MM shows. A loss of 15.76.
I would like to see the correct numbers.
Now there are 3 useless columns (my humble opinion - please correct me)
Cost : this could be filled if you enter the buying price and put the costs here. Would this be the total cost????? - are they now included in Balance?
As there are no numbers it is useless. Maybe put the dividends here and have the total at the bottom.
Gain : again a column dat is empty. Only the total is needed.
Balance gives the total of equities. But you see that at the bottom of quantity.
Anybody any ideas on this??????
I would like a different view of an investment

Re: I would like a different view of an investment
I think that loss of 15.76 is correct for the Sell - that's showing you the difference between what you bought the stocks for, minus what you sold them for. It looks like they roughly net off to the same, give or take commission. It's not a running total, it's the direct loss for that transaction.
The Cost column shows you the cost of any held stocks. So before you sell them, the Cost field should reflect the price you paid for them. Once you sell (or partly sell) those lots, you should see the cost figure reduce down to zero. So the sum of these cost fields should match the Cost field in the Portfolio summary.
The Gain column shows you the unrealised gain of any held stocks. So whilst you still hold those lots, the gain field will show you the difference between the current value, and the purchased cost. But again, once you sell out of those lots, the (unrealised) gain will disappear (as it is now a realised gain).
The summary at the bottom of the screen should give you each of these values for the selected trades. This will also give you the total of the realised income from your dividends.
I'm happy to make changes to make this more intuitive however. Perhaps I just need to split the Gain column into Unrealised and Realised Gain?

Re: I would like a different view of an investment
For me it is very important to see the real result of an investment and dividends are very important there.
First of all:
You can open the view of an investment by clicking on the investment in Portefolio or by clicking the arrow next to an investment in the account with the dividends. Sometimes I see the totals - sometimes not.
I now discovered that with the first way you get totals with the second way not - see attachments

Re: I would like a different view of an investment
When you look at the view with the totals there is something strange with the totals.
I don't know if you can see it so I added screenshot again.
Were does the total -2611.3 come from?????????
I made an excel file for this investment.
I added a screenshot.
This investment is a good example for what happens if you sell all and buy again.
If you want to see all results - even those of previous buy/sale - see fist excel.
It becomes more difficult if you want to see result of only those equities you own.
Then a line should be added to eliminate previous results.
This may be impossible.
I would be quite happy with the first view.

Re: I would like a different view of an investment
Thanks, I think this is just a refresh issue - the cost/gain figures aren't calculated when opening using the linked account. I will fix this. You can open the view of an investment by clicking on the investment in Portefolio or by clicking the arrow next to an investment in the account with the dividends. Sometimes I see the totals - sometimes not.
This is your unrealised gain, so the difference between what you bought the stock for, vs what it's worth now with the current price. I'm going to show separate columns for Realised and Unrealised Gain, rather than the current (unrealised) Gain column. This should make it clearer, and will also show your Dividend figures (since they're realised rather than unrealised). Were does the total -2611.3 come from?????????
Re: I would like a different view of an investment
I don't know about others but I really do not like seeing numbers that I cannot explain. This is your unrealised gain, so the difference between what you bought the stock for, vs what it's worth now with the current price.
It would be more logical then to have the actual paid price (costs included) in the cost column and the actual price in the value column.
That would give for this equity:
-----------------------------------------------Cost----------------------Value---------------------------------Unrealised gain
-----------------------------------------------9061.3-------------------6450------------------------------------2611.3

Yes, I think it needs a little tweaking. I'll see what I can do.
